The Hackers Paradise takes a look at the TP Flat 2.0 innovative design and determines; it provides a solution
November 30, 2023
In our latest review, Dean DeCrescenzo, from the online golf magazine the Hackers Paradise takes an in-depth review of our TP Series Flats and discovers some interesting performance advantages because of our exclusive low and forward design.
At the heart of the matter is all other oversized grips, the shaft core is centered, so when installed, the lead hand will move farther in front of the putter face as the grip diameter increases. This introduces a host of issues, like creating more effective offset, the hands connect higher to the shaft plane, there is a visual and an intangible feeling of disconnection, while ultimately, impact becomes less predictable.
Goat Grips exclusive TRU core solves this issue by progressively relocating from the center as the grip gets larger. A Goat will ride lower on the shaft so the player can remain connection to the shaft plane while more of the grip is “under” the shaft resisting the toe walking open in the backswing. When the face remains more square to the arc, it’s easier to deliver it with consistency.
Secondly, because the shaft is moved more forward, the grip’s leading edge rides the front side of the shaft. Now the players hands, shaft, and putter face are in agreement making impact predictable, to deliver just the right amount of shaft lean or loft. Because Goat decouples effective offset from a grips outer dimension, the face will always be in the same place to the lead hand regardless of the grip’s size. A 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 all play the same. This is next level consistency.
Lastly, when installing a TP Flat with the paddle forward, it offers the players a real sense of the face plane. When coupled with a deep rounded trailing edge, a player can go lead hand low, claw, conventional and more with a consistency and a confidence they are going to manage the face better than they ever hoped.
